Naqsh-e Jahan Square

Naqsh-e Jahan Square

One of Iran’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Naqsh-e Jahan square (trans: Image of the World) known as Imam Square is situated at the center of Isfahan, the legendary city which never fails to enchant those who visit it.
The square is one of the largest in the world and it is truly a brilliant example of traditional Islamic architecture. It has Safavid-era buildings at the four sides including Imam Mosque, Ali Qapu Palace, Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque and Keisaria Gate that opens into the Isfahan Grand Bazaar.
As Isfahan was a significant stop along the Silk Road, Naqsh-e Jahan Square played an important role in astonishing the passers-by and visitors. Naqsh-e Jahan has been admired by its visitors from all over the world, as you can see its name mentioned in so many history books.
