The Bazaar of Tabriz
Tabriz Historic Bazaar Complex known as the ‘Bazaar of Tabriz’ , that is one of Iran’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is one of the oldest bazaars in the Middle East and the largest roofed bazaar in the world.
The bazaar consists of a series of interconnected and covered brick structures, buildings and enclosed spaces for different functions. This spectacular structure consists of several sub-bazaars and has different economic and cultural functions. Although numerous modern shops and malls have been established recently, the Bazaar of Tabriz still remains the economic heart of the city and northwestern Iran and it is used for important religious ceremonies.
When you enter the bazaar it feels like as if you are walking in history. People are busy with their business selling carpets, gold and jewelry, shoes, herbs & spices and so on. You can’t help but be impressed by the warm traditional atmosphere and gorgeous architecture when you stroll around the old bazaar.
